Most Likely To Seduce

It’s interesting that pin-up darling Bettie Page is more of a fascination to modern women than men. Named class salutatorian and voted most likely to succeed, Page could have been anything she chose: She chose to be the queen of bondage and cheesecake photos. Adding to the lady-centric intrigue, when Page met aspiring photographer Bunny Yeager in Miami, the two teamed up, gal palled around and shot those cheetah pics and the oddball winkie Santa hat photograph. Those tagteam lady efforts would culminate in Page’s most iconic photos to date and land Page the title Playmate of the Month. Cut from another cloth, Page’s lack of inhibitions at her career’s peak laid the leather carpet for following generations of powerful women. Of course Page also battled depression and became a born-again Christian and a recluse for the second half of her life. Until very recently, we hadn’t heard Page weigh in on things, but Friday that changes at Texas Theatre (231 W. Jefferson Blvd.) as the entirety of that story is told in Bettie Page Reveals All, a documentary narrated by the titular broad herself. You can’t possibly expect Dallas’ sassiest, most intelligent burlesque dancers to miss the chance to honor an idol, so Friday’s 8:30 p.m. show opens with a performance by Naked Girls Reading Dallas founder Black Mariah, and tease-savvy collaborators The Dirty Blonde and Vivienne Vermuth.
