This Saturday, things got ree--eeee---eeeal dorky at Bolt Studios as Diorama-O-Rama gathered followers of the dark, nerdly arts for a day of craftivism. The event raises loot for local charities, with this installment's kitty getting kicked toward Café Momentum, a group that teaches culinary skills to at-risk youth in the Dallas community. If those kids promote themselves in the work force as well as they did on Saturday, tenured chefs had better start sweating. I couldn't turn around without encountering a smiling kid with a tray, eager to hype the organization that he or she proudly represented.
The event calls people to create dioramas and enter them as prizes for live and silent auction. (Thanks, Nikki Lott for making my coveted winning: a nature scene with verbally profane, alcoholic birds!) The event raised more than $7500 bucks for Café Momentum and brought hundreds of folks together for a great day party. Cheers, gals on a job well done. Here's a photo series of our favorite pieces; I apologize for my gawd-awful photography skills.
