Comedian Marc Ryan is the kind of guy you’d like to have a beer with. OK, a couple of six-packs of Keystone Light, topped off with a few shots of Jack Daniel’s. Preferably on the bank of a dried-up river. Shirtless, maybe. (Too far?) Raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ryan feeds his rambunctious stand-up performances with Southern stereotypes and anecdotal snippets from his own upbringing, packing his bits with quips about Walmart, family woes (with a southern twang) and drunken follies. Ryan’s style of comedy is almost the perfect balance between Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy — not DUI crazy, but wild enough. Just don’t expect a “Git-r-done!” Since rising to comedy fame after being featured on TBS’s Pit Stop Comedy special, Ryan has become the co-host of the Outdoor Channel’s adventure series Mudslingers. See him Friday through Saturday at Hyena’s Comedy Club, 5321 Mockingbird Lane, Suite 220. Tickets cost $10. Visit hyenascomedyclub.com/dallas or call 214-823-5233.
