Iceland is perhaps most famous in this part of the world for exporting musical talent with hard-to-pronounce names, but those more aware of the island's economy probably know that it also boasts aluminum as a chief export. Austin-based artist Amy Revier recently spent 9 months in Iceland on a Fulbright fellowship, and her latest work gives the viewer a taste of that experience, conveying the paradoxical spirit of the country by blending horror and humor in the form of digitally manipulated photographs printed on, yes, aluminum. This weekend is your last chance to see her exhibition, A Quiet Root May Know How to Holler, which is on display at The Reading Room, 3715 Parry Ave., through Sunday. To close out the exhibition, artist and SMU professor Philip Van Keuren will give a related reading in the space at 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit thereadingroom-dallas.blogspot.com.
