And our (relatively) little sphere of crazy — full of lurking volcanoes, shifting crusts and cell-signal dead zones — is an impressive residence, no matter your environmental leanings. Earth Day Texas 2014 gives us all plenty of ways to honor and celebrate old Mother Earth from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday in Fair Park, 3809 Grand Ave. Get your compass ready and navigate nearly 500,000 square feet of exhibits, vendors, entertainment and celebrity appearances all geared toward sustainable lifestyles, techniques to make your home and garden more earth-friendly, and ways to honor and enjoy the planet that we live on. Entertainment includes music from The Polyphonic Spree on Sunday afternoon and the Earth Day Texas Rising Stars Competition and Music Showcase throughout the weekend. Educational experiences include panel discussions from a variety of “green experts,” plus appearances by Ed Begley Jr. and wildlife expert David Mizejewski. Admission to the festival is free.
