The one time I visited FunAsia, 1210 E. Belt Line Road in Richardson, it was a magical evening. I watched a film about a special little dyslexic boy who talked to dancing cartoon fish while I feasted on vegetable samosas and mango ice cream. Plus, the films have an intermission! I mean, chick + beer + movie = yes to a potty break. Finally, someone gets it! And, in addition to movies, FunAsia also hosts banquet events, such as the one going down Thursday night from 6 to 9 p.m.: Dr. Juan Cole, a professor of history at the University of Michigan, will be speaking about the relationship between the U.S. and the Muslim world. This is the final lecture in the Dallas Peace Center's 2009 Summer Dinner Lecture Series. Tickets are $65. Call 214-823-7793 or visit dallaspeacecenter.org/tickets.
Thu., Aug. 6, 6 p.m., 2009
