Kwanzaa has always freaked me out a little. It's hard to grasp the idea of a holiday that my parents predate. I mean, it's a good idea in theory, but then so are most festivals and celebrations. Since it's such a new holiday, there's still a bit of learning and accepting to be done, and on the third day of Kwanzaa, Ujima (the day for collective work and responsibility) you can educate the next generation through Act of Change, Kwanzaa ya Watoto (Kwanzaa for Children) from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at 3210 S. Lancaster Ave., behind the Family Dollar store. Call 214-374-1192.
Fri., Dec. 28, 12-2 p.m., 2007
