This Wednesday, Central Market Cooking School (5750 E. Lovers Lane) offers a hands-on Take Home Holiday Side Dishes class that will send each participant home with four to six servings of each of these basic, but badass-sounding items: cornbread dressing, cranberry chutney, gouda mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and sweet potato casserole. The class is $75 and begins at 6:30 p.m. The elliptical machine time you'll need to complete in order to counteract eating 20 to 30 servings of freaking amazing side dishes in one sitting is priceless. Alice Laussade writes about food, kids, music, and anything else she finds to be completely ridiculous. She created and hosts the Dallas event, Meat Fight, which is a barbecue competition and fundraiser that benefits the National MS Society. Last year, the event raised $100,000 for people living with MS, and 750 people could be seen shoving sausage links into their faces. And one time, she won a James Beard Award for Humor in Writing. That was pretty cool.
