The world of Logan’s Run is a decadent place, filled with jumpsuits and miniskirts. There, free love is always in season, you get to live in a dome and, aside from the occasional patrol detail, nobody carries much daily stress in their lower sacrum. Of course, turning 30 blows. Living in an enclosed environment has its flip side: Resources are scarce, a questionable religion is worshiped and existing days are counted down on a hand jewel. When your twenties end, you’re forced to enter Carrousel, aka God’s Blender. Jessica 6 thinks there’s a better way, so she snags Logan, a Sandman, to help her escape. There are a couple reasons why this movie is awesome: 1.) The Old Cat Guy. 2.) It was filmed primarily in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It’s been selected as part of Dallas On Film, a combination effort between the Dallas Film Society and the Dallas Museum of Art that showcases those dusty, locally produced gems. Greg Brown, the Dallas Center for Architecture’s program director, will introduce the movie and discuss the history of those Dallas buildings that make cameos. The screening, which takes place in the Horchow Auditorium (1717 N. Harwood St.), is free with museum admission. (DMA and DFS members can walk right in.) It starts at 7 p.m. Thursday.
