There’s a group in town hell-bent on making the world better, and they do it by throwing parties. Against The Grain Productions, you’re all right in my book. Tonight you can take part in this libation-rich butterfly effect by forking down $25 (or $30 at the door), getting drunk-ish (it’s only Wednesday; keep it together), listening to a bunch of great bands and watching a touring comedian. I know what you’re thinking: “What’s the cause? Is it another ‘support local dandelion-based kombucha tea projects’ thing? I’m tired of those.” No. No. It is not. Cocktails for a Cause shoots money to international orphanages, provides community outreach and bolsters a scholarship fund, while showcasing Asian American up-and-comers, like Dallas’ adorable vocal twosome Duette, Oak Cliff’s lyrical spitter Twisted Optiks, Houston’s Xwansongs and that scamp comedian the “Zhangster.” It runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday night at La Grange, 2704 Elm St. Visit againstthegrainproductions.com.
