Texas is the fifth state in wine production in the country, and we've got Grapevine to thank for its part in achieving that ranking. The home of nine wineries and GrapeFest, the largest wine festival in the Southwest, Grapevine, Texas, is more than just a place to shop. On Friday and Saturday, you can swirl, sniff, swish and swallow to your heart's content at the 14th Annual Grapevine New Vintage Wine Trail. On Friday night, the weekend's festivities start with the Jazz Wine Train. All aboard at 6:40 p.m., with a 7 p.m. departure time--the wine train includes dinner, live music and vino from Grapevine wineries. Tickets are $50 per person.

On Saturday, the 14th Annual Wine Trail officially begins at noon and runs until 6 p.m. Each winery along the trail opens their doors so enthusiasts can taste the season's new wines. Each winery will feature live entertainment, food and the opportunity to visit with the winemakers. Complimentary shuttle service is provided to all of the tasting rooms. The full trail price is $52 per person; individual winery tickets are $9 per person. Designated drivers get to eat for free and are served non-alcoholic beverages. To purchase tickets or for more information call 817-410-3185 or visit grapevinetexasusa.com/newvintage.
Fri., April 7, 7 p.m.; Sat., April 8, 12-6 p.m.
