I never understand art. I'm the girl that looks at a piece of art and says, "Oh, pretty" or stupidly remarks "Hell, I could have done that." But, I try to get it, and just as soon as I think I've figured out what the art represents, I spot a random eyeball or something and have to start all over in ciphering out what the artist means. Anyhow, I do understand the feelings that a piece of art can evoke. Even if I don't figure out what the artist is saying, I can't look at a piece of art and not get some sort of feeling. Andy Don Emmons Jr. and Paul Greco have teamed up for Haj Paj at Mighty Fine Arts Gallery, 419 N. Tyler St. After checking out the combinations of Emmons' dark Southern icons with Greco's menacing storybook collages I got knots in my stomach. You know the kind of awkward innards-tightening that makes you uncomfortable and a little off balance because you aren't sure what you're looking at or if you really like the place your mind is going. The exhibit runs from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through January 4. Visit mfagallery.com.
