With comic books and graphic novels making the leap from the page to the screen so often now, you're just going to have to admit it. You like the damn things, even if you don't show the kind of fervent respect for them that some people think you should. Maybe you're just afraid of turning into one of those wacky comic book kids, spending every Wednesday's lunch hour at the nearest comic store you can find. But here's the thingcomics aren't just for die-hard fans. Anyone can enjoy them; you just need to know where to start. Need a little help? Well after the success of last year's Comic and Pop-Culture Expo (CAPE!), Zeus Toys and Comics will be giving birth to CAPE! 2: Son of CAPE!. The store's second annual celebration of Free Comic Book Day will be bigger and better than ever. With artists like Gail Simone (Birds of Prey), Bryan Hitch (The Ultimates) and Tony Bedard (Exiles) to lead the way, you're sure to find something you like, even if you're a novice. The two-day event kicks off with Friday night's Lesbian and Gay Mixer and, after a day of fans, fun and free stuff on Saturday, it'll end with a Live Art Show hosted by Fanboy Radio. And did I mention FREE comics? Don your CAPE from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Zeus Toys and Comics, 3878 Oak Lawn Ave. Admission is free. Call 214-219-TOYS or visit zeuscomics.com.
