The Latino Cultural Center's second annual Maestros Tejanos exhibit features the work of artist Tina Fuentes, who specializes in still-life paintings of fruit. A native of West Texas, Fuentes is heavily inspired by the desert borderlands and the life and death struggles of the many immigrants who try to cross them--"I had the opportunity to see the adverse effects that this climate and region can have on the human body," she says, alluding to the dark themes that underlie her work. See the fruits of Fuentes' labor from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays through November 21. The Latino Cultural Center is located at 2600 Live Oak St. Call 214-671-0045 or visit dallasculture.org.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Sept. 3. Continues through Nov. 21, 2009
