What do flip-flops, scoundrels, cheese and opera have in common? Beats the heck out of me, but The Dallas Opera has combined these things (along with cooking lessons, movie screenings and lectures in bed) as a way to pique the public's interests. This summer they're bringing us "Figaro in Flip-Flops," a three-month schedule of events designed to promote the TDO's upcoming 2008-'09 Season, "Lovers & Scoundrels." This Wednesday, they'll be presenting French Wines and Texas Cheeses (featuring some of the award-winning cheeses from Paula Lambert's Mozzarella Cheese Company), in preparation for this winter's performances of Puccini's fan favorite, La Bohème. Turophiles and opera lovers alike should leave the flip-flops at home and head to the Mozzarella Cheese Company, 2944 Elm St., from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for tastes and treats. The tasting is $15 per person. Call 214-443-1000 or visit dallasopera.org for reservations.
