It’s okay to admit that you still get a little warm-n-fuzzy whenever Heath Ledger high-steps across the bleachers, belting out “You’re Just Too Good to be True” in 10 Things I Hate About You. We never learned how to “quit” the Aussie heartthrob, either, and as a result of his roguishly cheesy performance in the 1999 teen classic, an entire generation was unknowingly introduced to Shakespeare through its loose adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew. (It’s just like Jessica Seinfeld hiding veggies in your eye candy!) Older and wiser – and so much more sophisticated – reacquaint yourself with the Bard’s tale of a gold-digging rapscallion and the unexpectedly raucous woman he encounters, as portrayed by Shakespeare in the Park’s Junior Players in a fast-paced production set among the gypsies of France. The free shows run nightly Tuesday, July 24 through Sunday, July 29, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuell-Grand Amphitheatre located at 6200 E. Grand Boulevard. Don’t forget blankets or lawn chairs and refreshments (beer and wine permitted). Visit shakespearedallas.org.
