When I think circus films, Tod Browning's 1932 horror film Freaks is the first that comes to mind. It's got everything a good movie about a circus needs: sideshow performers, a beautiful trapeze artist and a sickening eye-for-an-eye ending that would petrify even the most worldly 10-year-old. A true classic. Not surprisingly, it won't be featured at Circus Movie Mania, a fund-raising collaboration between Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey and Studio Movie Grill, going on Monday through Thursday at various Studio Movie Grills throughout the suburbs. Instead, they'll be showing The Greatest Show on Earth, the 1952 Academy Award winner starring Charlton Heston. In addition to the film screening, each night will feature a pizza buffet, circus prizes, raffles and a visit from the Ringling Bros. clowns. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling 817-589-5656. For more information, visit studiomoviegrill.com.
