If you've haunted the streets of Deep Ellum in the past couple of decades you've no doubt stumbled upon the art of Frank Campagna, whether it was gracing the brick walls of the Gypsy Tea Room or those of his own Kettle Gallery. Or perhaps you've seen some of his commissioned pieces for the likes of the Stones, The Ramones and Willie Nelson. His latest work is typical of his oeuvre, taking classic images of rock and roll icons like Bob Dylan and Chuck Berry and turning them into Warhol-style pop art. As he himself puts it, "Personally, it's always seemed like a good idea to understand and respect the past to grasp and appreciate the future." Amen, dude. See Recent works by Campagna through April 23 in the Magnolia Gallery, located in the Magnolia Theatre in the West Village, 3699 McKinney Ave. Visit landmarktheatres.com for showtimes and theater hours.
