If you’ve watched Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show, you already know John Caparulo. He’s the guy you didn’t expect: a Southern dark horse in the stand-up race. He’s a rapid-fire of grassroots insights and a high-pressure blast of smile shouts. But what really sets Caparulo apart is his natural flow of good humor; he reminds you of your funniest high school friend, turned up to 11. You want to shotgun beers with him and watch wide-eyed as he works through his grievances with the cable company, the soda industry and literature. He’s becoming wildly popular, but for now you can still see him at intimate venues like the Addison Improv (4980 Beltline Road, #250) where he performs Friday through New Year’s Eve. Make sure to catch his act while you can still afford it and sit close enough to watch his face get all red and squished up with rage. Tickets for tonight’s 8 and 10:30 p.m. shows range from $20 to $30, but they get pricier for New Year’s Eve. Check out details at improv.com.
