When you grow up in a town whose only museum featured the same quilting exhibit for nearly 12 years, you learn to appreciate the multitude of activities offered for families in our own arts community. One of the best of these activities is the Family Day Celebration at the DMA, a regular event that delivers an artful experience for every age group in your brood. The latest edition, sponsored by CBS 11, will run from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, and features a Tinker Tots activity for the under-four set; gallery drawing for your older doodlers; a session with Channel 11 meteorologist Larry Mowry for the budding meteorologists in your clan; storytime; gallery tours and more. Also, there’s an amazing trick chihuahua as part of the David Chicken Live Show Spectacular. Clearly, this an opportunity not to be missed: art, activities, and trick chihuahuas …all under one roof and all free at the Dallas Museum of Art, 1717 North Harwood. Visit dm-art.org for a schedule of the day’s activities.
