My favorite building in the metroplex is, hands down, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. I'll use any excuse under the sun for a visit, and here's one more for the books: the upcoming Hiroshi Sugimoto exhibit. End of Time, the Japanese-born photographer's exhibit organized by the Mori Art Museum (Tokyo) and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington, D.C.), features 120 photographs spanning his 30-year career. Influenced by Japanese architecture and painting, Sugimoto's use of light and shadow brings stunning detail to the likes of theaters, museum dioramas, seascapes and portraits. Though the bulk of his known work is done in black and white, this exhibit features the premiere of Colors of Shadow, a series of color prints made in his studio. The exhibit will also feature a Noh stage performance and a sound installation designed by Sugimoto himself. Hiroshi Sugimoto: End of Time is on display Sunday through January 21 at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St. General adult admission is $8. Call 817-738-9215 or visit themodern.org.
