When most people hear the word “Impressionism,” famous artists such as Monet, Degas and Toulouse-Lautrec and ordinary subject matters painted with loose brush strokes and creamy blends of color tend to dance across their minds. As one of the most well-know art movements of the 19th century, the period of Impressionism produced masterpieces still familiar to many today. Though the movement began in Paris, 73 masterpieces are coming to the Texas this week. The Kimbell Art Museum is proud to be the only American stop of the first-ever international touring exhibition, The Age of Impressionism: Great French Paintings from the Clark. This exhibition, which is also making stops in Italy, France, Spain, Japan and China, includes 73 paintings from the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Massachusetts. From March 11 to June 17, come to the Kimbell to see the 21 Renoir’s and six Monet’s along with other paintings from French painters of the period such as Pissarro, Degas and Gauguin. The Kimbell Art Museum is located at 3333 Camp Bowie Boulevard in Fort Worth. Tickets range from $10 to $14.
