Burlesque is a unique entertainment genre in that it’s typically performed by scantily clad women and women are also some of its strongest audience supporters. Sure, guys enjoy the show, but it’s the empowerment sparked by the art form that causes ladies to applaud with such gusto, and often even louder than the boys. This weekend, strike all of that. Ladies, we’re getting some man skin up there. Yep. I’m talking about the breakaway-pants-wearin’ sensations, the Stage Door Johnnies. With stage names like Ray Gunn and Bazooka Joe, women attending Saturday’s Hotter Than Hell Burlesque performance can expect to get their triggers pulled, too. Don’t worry gents, the lovely La Divina, Lula Houp Garu, Ruby Joule and others will also take the stage, but your girlfriend won’t make tiger growls at them. The show begins 9 p.m. in the Kessler Theater, 1230 West Davis St. Tickets start at $25. For more information, visit ladivinaburlesque.com.
