For those of us who feel the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling is inherently un-evil and are practically shaking in our cloaks and homemade Gryffindor scarves with anticipation for the fifth installment, the fine folks at Barnes & Noble are ready. Several locations have officially planned release parties with activities that may include magic, trivia, discussions, live owls, "Sorting Hats" and other whims of wizardry on Friday night to carry through to the witching hour (literally, since the stores will begin selling the first copies of Harry Potter V at midnight). Step through Platform 9 3/4 and fans of all ages can wait with other Potter devotees for the clock to strike midnight and the mad rush to purchase Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix to begin. We commend Barnes & Noble for its efforts to appease the crowds Friday, but that opening Saturday shift is going to be Hogwarts hell. Store locations in Cedar Hill (362 E. FM 1382, 972-293-7397), Fort Worth (1612 S. University, 817-335-2796) and North Richland Hills (8525 Airport Freeway, 817-281-7042) begin their festivities at 8 p.m. Barnes & Noble Lincoln Park, 7700 W. Northwest Highway, casts its celebration spell at 10 p.m. Call 214-739-1124. --Merritt Martin
