One of the worst parts of Christmas is the music. There's only so many times a person can listen to Elvis sing "Blue Christmas." Even the traditional Christmas carols turn into an occasion for misery after they've been piped through every elevator, shopping mall and radio airwave in America for the 1,000th time. Fortunately for the good citizens of Dallas there is an alternative. The Southwest Celtic Music Association is bringing us a Christmas gift all the way from Dublin, Ireland. The Irish band Grada is bringing their popular Christmas tour to the United States, and seeing as how the band is made up of a number of exceptionally talented musicians, the show should be pretty amazing. Even if it's not, though, there will be enough Guinness and Bailey's on hand to make you believe it is. So what are you waiting for? Stop playing with your shillelagh and go buy your tickets. Catch A Grada Christmas in America 8 p.m. Saturday at the Lakewood Theater, 1825 Abrams Parkway. Tickets are $25. Visit scmatx.org or ticketmaster.com.
Sat., Dec. 1, 8 p.m., 2007
