Sunday, the Texas Theatre kicks off its new monthly Spanish film series (Petra Negra Film Session) with a screening of All About My Mother (Todo Sobre Mi Madra). Pedro Almodóvar directed this highly dramatic and character-driven tale of a woman and her group of friends who experience a gamut of emotional crises. The 2000 Academy Award winner for best foreign language film, All About My Mother has it all: a complex mother/son relationship, a tragic death, a women’s search for her ex-lover/now female impersonator and a good-hearted nun played by Penélope Cruz. The movie starts at 7 p.m. Sunday, but those who arrive an hour early can munch on free tapas courtesy of Sí Tapas. Cocktails will also be on hand, so come hungry and thirsty for a night of Spanish food, drink and drama. For more information, go to thetexastheatre.com.
