A traumatized ex-soldier, a troubled marriage and blood money. In the hands of Clint Eastwood, the movie would be an intense character study. From Michael Bay, a blow-em-up flash fest with a sneering Eddie Murphy. But Kill List, the brainchild of British director Ben Wheatley, teeters somewhere between horror and thriller. It goes like this: The ex-soldier, now a hitman, is haunted by a botched job, yet he succumbs to the pressure to do one last hit. Add in buckets of blood and a creepy cult, and things spiral to hellish depths. Kill List was written by Wheatley and wife Amy Jump. We’d love to be a fly on the wall for one of their dinner conversations. Kill List is screening Friday night at the Texas Theatre, 231 West Jefferson Blvd. Theater reps say it’s the “most brutal movie” they’ve ever shown, so bring along an extra pair of underpants.
