These days, vampires are like viruses. They're everywhere, thanks to Twilight. There are the garden variety evil vampires, vegetarian vampires, vamps who drink synthetic blood, and--wait for it--singing vampires. One wonders if the fangs get in the way of a high A. That's a question for The Urban Vampires, a Dallas classical music group with undead flair. Leave a mark on Mom with a Mother's Day Redux on Sunday when The Urban Vampires perform at South Side on Lamar. The "chic band" of vamps--Gustave De La Croix, Countess Erzsebet, Barcelona Marceaux and Count Sergei Alucard--are celebrating mothers and childhood with selections from Carmina Burana, Les Miserables, The Magic Flute, Wicked and The Phantom of the Opera. Gustave will share how he became a vampire as he and his "ghost mother" Marie play a Schubert piano duet. Creepy? Find out for yourself. Musical Tales from the Crypt to the Crib begins at 5 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and drinks at South Side on Lamar, 1409 South Lamar St. Tickets are $30.
