When you stretch your legs, double-knot your laces and chug your water bottles at the Third Annual United States Secret Service 5K Run, you might want to be a little extra careful. The run is advertised as a benefit for the American Cancer Society, and the 5K festivities also include face-painting, balloon artists and other fun-for-all-ages attractions, and that's all well and good. But none of the run information explains anything about the Secret Service's involvement, and a phone call to organizers elicited a vague answer: "They put their name on it because they're...funding it." Huh. I guess the answer to our question is a...secret, perhaps? Join the mystery at the intersection of Las Colinas and O'Connor boulevards in Irving. The 5K run starts at 9 a.m.; the fun run starts at 9:10 a.m. Call 972-401-8383.
