I spent many an hour combing through rock shops as a kid, fascinated with fossils and minerals of all shapes and sizes. If only I'd spent a few of those hours combing through the dirt of Arkansas' Crater of Diamonds State Park, perhaps I'd be a richer man today. Beginning this Friday, you'll have a chance to see some of the biggest diamonds ever found in the park--along with other mineral specimens, a silver ingot found on a sunken Spanish galleon and some awesome dinosaur fossils--in a new exhibit titled Treasures From the Earth: Diamonds, Gold and Dinos. See it all from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays at the Heard Museum, 1 Nature Place in McKinney. Admission is $8, $5 for seniors and kids ages 3 to 12; members and children 2 and younger get in free. Call 972-562-5566 or visit heardmuseum.org.
Starts: April 3. Daily, 2009
