While most photographers feel comfortable off-camera, capturing the world from behind their lenses, Erica Felicella has stepped out in the open. She's the same wonder woman performance artist who spent 48 hours in a plexiglass box behind the Kessler Theater in May. That piece of performance art was part emotional exploration, part physical disorientation, and when it ended we were overwhelmed by Felicella's strength in both categories. Tonight we'll see even another skill from the artist: curation. She's put together a show at Kettle and it includes landscape photos by herself and more than a dozen other local photographers. Knowing Kettle, the definition of “landscape” will be played with by those participating, so don't go in expecting two dozen pictures of the sun setting into the mountains. It will also be a chance to see a show at Kettle that's all done in the same medium, which doesn't happen often. Join Erica and friends at 7 p.m. this evening. The show runs until August 18. Kettle Art is at 2714 Elm Street, in Deep Ellum.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 7 p.m. Starts: July 26. Continues through Aug. 18, 2012
