The AT&T Performing Arts Center (2403 Flora St.) is upping Dallas’ classical music game with a brand-new recital series featuring big-name soloists. At 7:30 p.m. Friday, American piano superstar André Watts will take the stage for the series-opening concert in a solo recital featuring the music of Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt. With massive hands, impossibly dexterous fingers and more than four decades of performing on the world’s biggest stages at his disposal, Watts has an uncanny ability to make even the most technically tricky passages look easy. His characteristically relaxed demeanor can be deceiving, but his technical and artistic competence always impress. Over the course of the evening you’ll hear a diverse range of sounds from sparkling, delicately shaped classical phrases to the big, bombastic sounds of the great romantic composers. Tickets range from $20 to $70. Visit attpac.org.
