Are you unfamiliar with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, the Tom Stoppard play being produced with a cast of 10- to 16-year-olds at Fun House Theatre and Film? Allow us to sum up the plot in one word: Cabbage, zinc and talcum powder. OK, so that’s not one word, and unless director Rene Moreno has something really odd planned, you won’t hear any mention of brassicas or minerals. But who really knows? We’re talking about a classic existential absurdist comedy, so nothing is certain in a play about how two small characters from Hamlet spend their offstage time while Elsinore bleeds. It’s about art, randomness, fate, free will and reality. But don’t let that scare you off. It’s also fast, funny and thought-provoking. Should you go see it? We think so, but if you’re still uncertain, flip a coin. Friday’s opener is at 7:30 p.m. at Plano Children’s Theatre, 1301 Custer Road, Suite 706, with performances Thursdays through Saturdays until April 26. Tickets are $10 at the door or $8 in advance at funhousetheatreandfilm.com.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: April 18. Continues through April 26, 2014
