It’s a fabulous time to be raising a little one in Dallas — our Arts District has virtually exploded in the past few years, meaning that your children have many new avenues of entertainment beyond just the run-of-the-mill swings-and-slides and touring Disney productions. Now we’ve got fancy downtown parks and several museums to keep the rug rats engaged — including the Nasher Sculpture Center, 2001 Flora St. It’s always a visual feast for little eyes, but especially fun when the kids can go beyond “look but don’t touch” during Target First Saturdays. Saturday, they can enjoy a hands-on activity from 10 a.m. until noon; check out a sculpture demo until 12:30 p.m.; and hang in for a family tour at 10:15, 11:15 or 12:15. Be sure to show them Eva Rothschild’s Sightings installation (especially since it’ll be gone after January 20) — the multicolored installation is an attention grabber among youngsters as it winds through the lobby and down into the lower level. Target First Saturdays are free for the entire family and go until 2 p.m. See nashersculpturecenter.org for more.
