The common theme of Deft Touch, an art exhibit on display this month at Mighty Fine Arts, is a re-examination of ordinary objects that explores their deeper meaning, aesthetics and subtle humor. Artist Anne Allen examines household items--wallpaper patterns, doilies, hairnets, etc.--while fellow exhibitor Luke Sides' portfolio includes sculptures such as "Self Portrait," featuring bronze Hostess cakes, and "Stainless Undies," made of stainless steel. Also appearing is Brad Ford Smith's site-specific installation, "Just Below the Skin a River Flows," which addresses the many functions of the epidermis as a sensory receiver and the packaging for human emotions. Deft Touch runs through March 22 at Mighty Fine Arts, 419 N. Tyler St. in Oak Cliff; hours are 12 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Call 214-942-5241 or visit mfagallery.com for more information.
