Almost 30 years ago, Al Pacino had a little friend, Michelle Pfeiffer was a sexy cokehead who liked bad boys, and Steven Bauer had a full TV and film career to look forward to. Ah, those were the days. When Scarface hit the screens in 1983, it was a shock to the film world, filled with so much foul language and violence that it earned an X rating three, count ’em, three times. Luckily Brian De Palma was a sneaky motherfucker and got the director’s cut of the film into the theaters and hearts of moviegoers everywhere, and now it’s back for one weekend only. The classic tale of a Cuban drug lord gone loco, Scarface is on the big screen at the awesome Texas Theatre (231 W. Jefferson Blvd.), so enjoy a Brian De Palma-style snowstorm on Sunday night for its final birthday screening. Tickets are $9.50, $8 for members, students, seniors and, yes, bike riders.
