Houndstooth Coffee

Scott Reitz
If you’re the type of bike-riding coffee snob who turns up his nose at frappuccinos, Austin import Houndstooth Coffee’s Henderson Avenue outpost might just fit the bill. Inside the sleek, modern, sun-drenched space, options abound: Japanese-style cold brew? Pourover? Cortado? Iced chai? Or perhaps an almond milk vanilla latte complete with heart-shaped latte art, courtesy of the impeccably trained, impossibly well-mannered and delightfully chatty baristas. The seating situation isn’t especially comfortable and you won’t find much in the way of food, but the the shiny La Marzocco machine churns out some of the best damn espresso you’ll ever taste, particularly when the beans hail from Tweed, Houndstooth’s sister roastery located in the Design District.
