Oak Street Draft House

Alumni at Denton’s University of North Texas often hang around long after graduation, which means they need places a little more grown-up than the average college bar. Oak Street Draft House, a beer bar built into an old house, seeks to meet that need. They don’t do the typical college-bar drink deals that can be found on Fry Street, but the wide range of mostly Texas brews can be had on the cheap. A a nice touch: The taps aren’t topped with the traditional handles provided by beer companies. Instead, each is a brightly colored design made by glass blower Matt Marchand. The taps work well with the bar’s vintage aesthetic; old photos and artwork freckle the tall white wooden walls.
