Well, here we are, just days away from the launch of the third annual 35 Conferette (nee the North by 35 Conferette) in Denton, and get this: The prices for wristbands, despite speculation (at least on our part, and mostly in our heads), haven't increased. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Today, the folks behind 35 Conferette have announced a discount on tickets that will run through Wednesday; by going here and entering the promo code "LastChance35," would-be attendees can score $15 off the price of an otherwise $85 four-day wristband (or, in a strange turn of events, just $5 more than a one-day Saturday or Sunday past will cost attendees). A sign that sales for the festival aren't going so hot? Let's hope not -- with some 225 bands on the bill, 35 Conferette's got a lot of mouths to feed.

But, then, given our voracious readership and its taste for free passes to concerts, so do we. And on that note, thanks to the fine folks up at the Denton fest, we're happy to announce that we've got a handful of four-day wristbands to hand out to some lucky DC9 readers looking to skimp out of service charges or, well, any charges when it comes to this weekend's ordeal.

Want one of the free passes? Jump with us then, friend, and we'll tell you how you can win.

Want one of the passes? OK! Just be among the first three people to email me, starting right now, with the words "WHAT THE HELL IS A CONFERETTE?" in the subject line, and you're in. Good luck!

Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners!
