Last night, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for the 2010 Grammy Awards, as they tend to do around this time of year.
The winners won't be announced until the live awards show, which will air on CBS on Sunday, February 13, 2011. But, thanks to a whole slew of nominations, you can bet that a whole bunch of North Texans will be present at the affair, which will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
After the jump, check out the nominations received the by the local and local-ish set alike, which combine for a total of eight regional noms, depending on what your definitions of regional and/or local are.
- Dallas native Norah Jones earned a nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her work on "Chasing Pirates" from her album The Fall.
- Dallas hip-hop producer Symbolyc One earned a sorta nod, as a co-producer on Kanye West's "Power," which earned West a nomination in the Best Rap Solo Performance category.
- Waco's David Crowder Band earned a nominated in the Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album category for their album Church Music.
- Willie Nelson, who we can consider kind of local-ish thanks to his Place down in Carl's Corner, earned a nomination in the Best Americana Album category for his album Country Music.
- Dallas-born Jimmie Vaughan earned a nomination in the Best Traditional Blues Album category for his album Plays Blues, Ballads & Favorites.
- Fort Worth's Own T Bone Burnett earned two nominations for his work on the Crazy Heart soundtrack, which earned a nomination in the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media category and again in the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media category for the song "The Weary Kind," which he co-wrote with Ryan Bingham.
- Rob Cavallo, meanwhile, is decidedly non-local, but earned a nomination in the Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical category, at least in part for his work on Meat Loaf's Hang Cool Teddy Bear, which boasts that the Loaf can barely fit his dick in his pants these days, as you no doubt recall.
