Though it was once chiefly a spot to check out up-and-coming rock bands, The Cavern seems to have found its niche by branching out into hosting local hip-hop and dance events like the weekly Cool Out with DJs Schwa and Big J.

Similarly, Saturday's lineup is sure to be a night of mindless fun. Car Stereo (Wars), the musical project of Austin filmmaker Christopher Rose, is known for crowd-pleasing mashups that include elements as familiar as "Smells Like Teen Spirit" blended with snippets from lesser-known indie acts such as Of Montreal and Spank Rock.

You may already be familiar with his Austin City Limits Music Festival mashup; if you've ever wanted to hear a medley of songs from 29 indie music big shots including Okkervil River, Neko Case, Del tha Funkee Homosapien and The Raconteurs, you'd love it. Locals Sydney Confirm, who combine poppy guitar parts with drum machines and Reagan-era synths during their spastic live sets, make a good opening choice.
