productions' Lance Yocom has been sitting on this show for a while. The Boston punk act, whose reunion has lasted longer than its original
run, should make for an interesting show at Dan's. Expect it to be
packed and loud.
Sharon Van Etten

Sharon Van Etten hasn't put out a bad album. Her haunting 2012 record Tramp has been a bit of a breakthrough for her. It's melancholy, dark tint from start to finish should translate nicely in a dark, cavernous club like Trees.
Willie Nelson

According to the press
release, this show's official title is "Raising Cane's Presents Willie
Nelson." I never thought of Willie as a corporate chicken finger purveyor.
I thought he'd be above this sort of thing, but then again, he does
smoke a lot of weed.
Brutal Juice, Dope House

It's a rare show
from Denton's legendary acid-punk band Brutal Juice. Every few years the
band comes out of hibernation to prove that they are in fact still brutal.

The kids love Owl City, the emo/electronica solo project by Adam Young,
who seems to be trying to distance himself from his earlier work.
Ben Folds Five
Sunday, September 23, at Palladium Ballroom, $45
Ben Folds was in town just
last month, joined by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at the
Meyerson. This should be a more "up" show, and a lot of people I
went to high school with should be there, too.

Worth could a music festival featuring Dr. Dog, Hayes Carll and a
handful of local acts be headlined by smooth jazz man Kevin
Eubanks, from Jay Leno's Tonight Show band.
Ryan Bingham

Ryan Bingham,
the guy who wrote all those country songs for the film Crazy Heart, will
be at Palladium Ballroom in the fall. You might also remember him as the
headliner of the Observer's St. Patrick's day concert back in March.

Saturday, October 13, at Granada Theater, $24
Canadian band Stars is one of the many acts closely associated with
Broken Social Scene, which explains their straightforward pop. They'll
be here just a few weeks after releasing their eighth studio album, The North, set to come out on September 4.
