It's somewhat surprising that Philadelphia's Good Old War's self-titled, second album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Heatseeker chart this week--but not entirely. The band's rootsy, folk-inspired singalongs are highly enjoyable--and their 2008 debut, Only Way To Be Alone, which featured the above, phenomenal cut, "Coney Island," was probably one of the more underappreciated release of that year.
Folks sure seem to be making up for overlooking the band these days, though: Our sister paper in Seattle just dubbed the band as "Philadelphia's Soulful Answer to Fleet Floxes." Not sure about all that, but, hey, this is a band well worth your listen, that's what I'm saying.
Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners!
