Sunday night's double-headlining pairing of Vetiver and The Clientele at the Granada Theater sure is an interesting one, pairing together two relatively somber acts that excel with retrospective takes on similar--but definitely not the same--genres. And, if you're super-competitive, it's like a do-over of the Revolutionary War--or maybe more appropriately the War of 1812--because, this sucker pits the United Kingdom (The Clientele) against our good ole U.S. of A. (Vetiver).
Actually, I think I'm with the Brits on this one: Vetiver's deliberately paced folk sure can strike a melancholy mood with the best of 'em, but The Clientele's oft-distorted retro-pop is pretty dreamy, y'all.
Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners.
