Plenty going on this weekend, not the least of which includes Art Conspiracy 5 tomorrow, featuring performances from Telegraph Canyon, RTB2, The Crash That Took Me and The Boom Boom Box.

Unfortunately, we don't have much time this afternoon to expound on too many of this weekend's doings. So let's just keep this short and sweet. First, the shows we've already discussed...

Tonight, up in Denton, The Duchess and The Duke perform with Fergus & Geronimo at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios.

On Saturday, Rural Alberta Advantage and The Shaky Hands play The Cavern, Innperpartysystem leads an impressive bill also featuring P.O.S. at The Door and The Gourds take to Lola's Sixth in Fort Worth.

...and, after the jump, a few more options.

El Ten Eleven
Friday, Dec. 11, at Bryan St. Tavern

For once, we didn't write a critic's pick or gig alert announcing this LA-based post-rock duo's arrival into town. Might be for the best, though: This show, originally scheduled to take place at the Double Wide has been moved to Bryan Street Tavern as the Double Wide's been booked for some sort of private party. In turn, many congrats to Bryan Street for scoring its biggest show to date, albeit in a roundabout manner.

Destry, Bear Colony
Friday, Dec. 11, at Prophet Bar

Destry claims about seven states home, one of which is good ol' Texas. Not sure how to feel about that. But, credit where it's due: The band's lush, baroque folk/Americana is pretty touching stuff. Better yet, opening act Bear Colony is a fine pop-rock act making this show quite the impressive one on this Friday night.

Brave Combo
Saturday, Dec. 12, at Smoke

It's an annual holiday event from the Grammy-winning Denton-based polka outfit, this one happeing at Oak Cliff BBQ joint Smoke. Well worth attending.

Dave Burrell
Saturday, Dec. 12, at Sandaga Market

Speaking of out-of-norm events, how's this one from legendary free jazz pianist Burrell?

In This Moment, In Fear and Faith, Motionless in White
Saturday, Dec. 12, at Trees

Ozzfest vets In This Moment headline this impressive metal lineup at Trees. So what's notable about In This Moment? Well, it's one of the few currently drawing metal acts that boasts a female lead. Maria Brink, in the words of one Wayne Campbell, can "really wail"--and impressively so, actually, adding some serious melody to this shredding headlining act.

Sister Hazel, Tyrone Wells
Saturday, Dec. 12, at House of Blues

Finally I figured out why I remembered Sister Hazel's name. But it took a long, long time. It's hard to say what it is people still see in them, but, hey, whatever.

Underoath, August Burns Red, Emery
Sunday, Dec. 13, at House of Blues

Christian metal blows. Metal from bands made up entirely of Christians who may or may not be preaching to you? Still pretty much blows, folks. But don't tell the kids that. They love this scene.

...got more suggestions? Add 'em in the comments. Otherwise? Have fun out there.
