There was a time when Death Cab For Cutie would have Centro-Matic in the support slot of their regional shows. But those days are long gone. On Saturday, Death Cab will be at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie with Frightened Rabbit.
But if a Centro-Matic-less Death Cab doesn't sound like your thing, well, there are plenty of other viable shows this weekend, starting with the ones we've been talking about all week.
Tonight, Ryan Thomas Becker kicks off a busy weekend with a solo performance at The Belmont Hotel.
On Saturday, over at Dada, Ishi will perform with the help of Nervous Curtains and El Cento.
And, on Sunday, Ryan Thomas Becker is back with bandmate George Neal for a Hares On The Mountain performance at Dan's Silverleaf, and the Rock The Bells Tour with Rae-Kwon, Ghostface Killah, and Mobb Deep will be at House of Blues.

Hoyotoho, Eyes Lips Eyes
Friday, August 12, at La Grange
Sure, Hoyotoho played in Dallas last night. But it's hard to get a dance party going in the cavernous space in front of the main stage at House Of Blues. La Grange, however, it's a different story. While the cramped space might make for a sweatier experience, it'll surely be an energetic way to see this Dallas-based electro-rock act -- even if they play the exact same set list as last night.
Stevie Nicks
Friday, August 12, at Verizon Theatre
Did you guys see Stevie Nicks on The Voice? Not bad at all. In fact, it sounded like she's still a strong performer. And with the depth of her songbook, tonight's show will be well worth the drive to Grand Prairie.
Torche, Big Business, Thrones
Friday, August 12, at Dada
Dada hasn't had a strong metal show since Parade of Flesh threw it's third annual Bro Fest back in March. So I guess it makes sense that POF is also behind this show, which features sludge metal act Torche and Big Business. Should be a good show, too, considering that Dada is a better music venue now than it's ever been.
Eleven Hundred Springs, Jesse Dayton, Amanda Shires
Friday, August 12, at Granada Theater
Seems like Eleven Hundred Springs performs here in their hometown once every two months or so -- which is not that often considering they're steady on the road the rest of the time. But as singer Matt Hillyer sings on "This Crazy Life," "One of these days, I'm going to settle down, and sleep in our bed and live in our town." Until then, we'll see them every other month.

The white boy reggae will be strong with this show.
Merle Haggard
Saturday, August 13, at Billy Bob's Texas
What are the odds that Texas Rangers manager, the old-ochool brother, Ron Washington will be at this show? [Editor's note: Probably pretty slim, considering that the Rangers are in Oakland this weekend.] Either way, Merle Haggard will likely play "That's the Way Baseball Go," his new song about "Wash." He'll probably play "Okie From Muskogee," too.
Maleveller, Record Hop, Eagle Claw
Saturday, August 13, at Double Wide
This show at Double Wide on Saturday night will be earsplitting, to say the least. Dallas metal titans Maleveller have got to be primed for the release of their debut LP at the show. And as we wrote earlier this week in DC9, these guys take their metal very seriously. You have been warned.
Trae Tha Truth, XV, Jay Fresh, J Mack, Big Hud, DJ Merk

Trae Tha Truth is one of the most legit rappers to come out of Texas. Hell, he's even got his own holiday in his hometown of Houston called Trae Day, which is marked with a massive hip-hop festival. On his latest mixtape, he collaborates with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Wyclef Jean, Big Boi, Lupe Fiasco, Wiz Khalifa and Scarface, among others. Yes, he's very legit. Check him and a handful of other emcees out as they perform at Trees on Saturday.
Night Beats
Sunday, August 14, 4 p.m., at Good Records
Seattle's Night Beats have some serious local ties. Founding member, Lee Blackwell, was originally from Dallas before making the move to Seattle two years ago. In the short amount of time since, his garage-pop trio has toured extensively. Their only Dallas show this time around will be live on the Good Records astroturf.
