Who would have thought when Clint Barlow and his wife reopened Trees in 2009, that they'd make it to their two-year-anniversary?
We're kidding, of course, but this weekend marks that milestone nonetheless, as the club continues going stronger than ever. Drowning Pool, Overscene, No Scope and Fantasma have all signed on to perform at the celebratory concert tonight.
But since you probably can't get in (it's already sold out, bro), here are some other shows this weekend, starting with the ones we've been talking about all week.
Tonight, Sarah Jaffe and Bosque Brown will perform at The Kessler Theater, and Appleseed Cast, Hospital Ships and Two Knights will be at The Prophet Bar. Oh, and, over at Lola's Saloon in the Fort, Darstar and The Skeevs will perform. Also: El Ten Eleven will be at Dada.
On Saturday, Bravo, Max! will be at La Grange with Milktooth, and Trees is bringing the annual Ride For Dime show to Dallas with performances from Cowboys From Hell Paso, Honky, Messer and more. Also on Saturday, as Spune Productions head Lance Yocom slowly but progressively recovers from severe pneumonia in a hospital in Arizona, Seryn and Telegraph Canyon will play a benefit show at Lola's Saloon to raise money to transport him home. And, speaking of benefit shows, Ace-A-Thon at Dada will give friends a chance to remember fallen musician Ace McNeely while raising money for kids to get music lessons.
Lastly, on Sunday, Play-N-Skillz will bring "Ghetto Superstar" Mya and Ray J to the Rio Room and Bill Kirchen and others will perform at Sons of Hermann Hall to help celebrate some life in the local music community. Let's sneak in one more, too: Summer Slaughter Fest is going on at the House of Blues, featuring The Black Dahlia Murder, White Chapel, and others.

Ian Moore Band, Dan Dyer, Hunter Hendrickson

Guess what? Austin's Ian Moore is back in town for what is turning into, basically, his monthly residency at any given venue in Dallas. This time, though, the show is billed as the reunion of the Ian Moore Band, the bluesy act that launched Moore's career. It's been 15 years since the last time they played, so if you're die hard enough, the $30 to $42 ticket price range will be money well spent.

Bill Longhorse is an extraordinary jazz guitarist, but what's even more impressive about him is that he can down about 13 drinks over the course of a night and still play those complicated licks. Or so we've been told.

Today, Telegraph Canyon tweeted that they would be performing new songs at their show tonight. So, if you're like us, and you're excited about new material from Chris Johnson and company, make your way up to Denton tonight. Also, get there early for The Cush Seryn is playing. Big bill!
New Fumes, RTB2, Dove Hunter

This is a pretty standard local bill, except that each band performing is known for it's solid live performance -- Dove Hunter and RTB2 for their gritty riffs, and New Fumes for the awesome videos that accompany the show.
Sea Lion, Hormones, Spookeasy, R.A.T.H.
Saturday, August 20, at Bryan Street Tavern
This is also a sort of standard local bill, but Sea Lion is releasing its self-titled debut record, which was produced by Salim Nourallah. Also on the bill are sweat-drenched hard rockers Hormones and Spookeasy.

Earlier in the week, Comrade's Daniel Hall jokingly tweeted that every member of the band, past and present, is expected to perform at Sunday's show at Hailey's Club. If even half that many people show up, it'll still make about nine or ten. Baruch The Scribe headlines what will be a solid night of music in little D.
