Maybe the best free event you'll attend all year, the annual joint celebration that Good Records throws for both Record Store Day and the store's birthday always makes for quite the happening shindig. No surprise, then, that this year's offerings are once again top-notch.
On Saturday, April 16, the Lower Greenville record store (1808 Greenvillle Ave.) will host on its AstroTurf-covered stage performances from Jason Lytle (both an acoustic, solo set and one where he'll be backed by Denton's Own Midlake), Sarah Jaffe, True Widow, Austin's Octopus Project, Sundress, Leg Sweeper and a whole slew of others, as part of what's being called "Good Records Goes To 11" in reference to the store's 11th anniversary.
(Lytle is also performing with Midlake backing him at Dan's Silverleaf in Denton later that same night.)
Meanwhile, out in the parking lot, along with all the other, regular fixin's -- food, beer, etc. -- the store will host a slew of DJ sets from the likes of DJ Sober, Blixaboy, DJ Wild in the Streets, Daniel Huffman (New Fumes) and a couple poseurs, including yours truly.
And the sucker really does go all day long -- from 8 a.m. until midnight. Check out the full lineup of performers and DJs after the jump, straight from Chris Penn of Good Records' computer screen to yours. See you there.
"Good Records Goes to Eleven."
