Levitation Fest in Austin Canceled Due to Weather

If you were planning on making the trek to Austin this weekend for Levitation, you'd better stop packing those bags. And if you've already hit the road, for god's sake, turn around before you get to I-35. Just in time for those early birds looking to make the drive ahead of time, Levitation's organizers have announced that all three days of the fest have been canceled.

"It is with great sadness that we must report that due to safety concerns regarding dangerous weather, #Levitation2016 has been cancelled," read a statement issued via social media late this afternoon.

"This decision is heartbreaking, but it’s a decision officials have made for the safety of festival attendees, and safety is our first priority," the statement added.

Levitation, the festival formerly known as Psych Fest, was slated to take place this weekend from Friday to Sunday at Carson Creek Ranch. The lineup — booked by Transmission Events, who also run Fun Fun Fun Fest — included Ween, Animal Collective, Flying Lotus, Courtney Barnett and dozens more.

The headliner for the weekend was Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson, who was supposed to play his former band's masterpiece, Pet Sounds, in its entirety. Fortunately, Wilson is also scheduled to play Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie on Sunday, so you can still see him this weekend even without the drive down south.
