Speaking of Dallas bands with 20 years of history, Old 97's announced today that they'll release Most Messed Up. It's roughly the band's 11th full-length, depending on how you count a few greatest hits, serialized releases and other oddities. The alt-country pioneers announced the news just now on their blog, where they also offered the track listing and album art. You can see both below.

They also released Most Messed Up's first single today via Entertainment Weekly, called "Longer Than You've Been Alive." It, like the rest of the album, is about the triumphs and (mostly) trials of being in a band for two decades. Listen to Rhett Miller take an unusual approach to new fan development over on the EW website.

Most Messed Up will be out on April 29 -- it's the 97's first on ATO. You can read the full announcement here, but the meatiest paragraph is this:

The Old 97's have confirmed the April 29 release of their new album and ATO debut Most Messed Up -- a revealing, 12-track meditation on 20 years in music that finds them at their raucous, boozy best. It's "a rock opera, a way-off Broadway musical about a musician's life, loves and lubrication," says music critic Bill Flanagan. Recorded in Austin and produced by Salim Nourallah, Most Messed Up also features guest appearances by Tommy Stinson (The Replacements, Guns N' Roses) and Jon Rauhouse (Neko Case) on lap-steel.

Most Messed Up Tracklist: "Longer Than You've Been Alive" "Give It Time" "Let's Get Drunk & Get It On" "This Is The Ballad" "Wheels Off" "Nashville" "Wasted" "Guadalajara" "The Disconnect" "The Ex Of All You See" "Intervention" "Most Messed Up"
